Earnings and employment

  • The average annual gross income for someone in the sample group, who was employed at the time of the 2018 Census and who had a post-school qualification in Radiography ranged from $76,200 (highest qualification = Level 7) to $91,700 (highest qualification = Level 8 Postgraduate cert/dip/hons).
  • Unemployment rate: <1% (at the time of the 2018 Census). The unemployment rate for this age group in New Zealand at this time was: 5.2%
  • Not in labour force: 12.2% (at the time of the 2018 Census). Compared with poluation of: 20.1% “Not in labour force” refers to people who were neither employed nor unemployed during the reference period. This will include people with family/caring responsibilities.

Occupations

  • Among all employed persons in the sample group whose highest qualification was in Radiography, the most common occupations were Medical Diagnostic Radiographer (28.7%), Medical Radiation Therapist (27.6%) and Sonographer (13.3%).
